Omni Pro extends Tecate range with TPLH ultra capacitors
Small cell, 3.0V ultra capacitors by Tecate make up the TPLH series. The ultra capacitors join the TPL and TPLH 2.7V small cell ultra capacitors ranges already available from Omni Pro Electronics.
The 3.0V TPLH series offers significantly higher energy density than current 2.7V products, said the distributor. The capacitors’ sealing is designed to address high temperature and humidity-rich applications.
The ultra capacitors allow designers to migrate to higher voltage and greater energy density within the same industry-standard cell footprints, explained Omni Pro. This saves space and may reduce the number of cells required. The technology improvements are a direct result of propriety innovation in electrode processing and packaging while maintaining standard pin-to-pin compatibility for standard can sizes, as well as customised cells and modules on request, reported Omni Pro.
The 3V TPLH series ultra capacitor cells range in value from four to 100F. They are UL-recognised and RoHS and REACH-compliant. The cells provide a high charge and discharge rate, excellent stability, long cycle life, and very high power density, claimed Tecate Group. Suitable applications are use in robotics, material handling, military applications, consumer devices, telematics, handheld scanners, on-board vehicle security video backup systems and data centre, short term power back up systems.
The 3.0V ultra capacitor cells operate at a temperature range of -40 to +65 degrees C (with expanded operating temperature to +85 degrees C with voltage derated to 2.7V). They also have a projected cycle life of 500,000 and a load life performance of 10 years. The manufacturer said the addition of these radial-sized cells gives Tecate Group the most extensive 3.0V ultra capacitor cell portfolio in the industry, ranging from four to 3000F in multiple sizes and terminations.
