Real time medical computers support AI imaging

Two real time-capable medical computers from Adlink Technology are designed for artificial intelligence (AI) -supported imaging processes. The MLB-3000 and MLB-3002 are IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 compliant systems, configured with 13 Intel Core and Intel Celeron processor configurations and nine Nvidia Quadro and RTX processor-based graphics cards.

They can be used in in AI-supported imaging processes as recording, processing and visualisation systems in which image data is analysed and visualised in real time. Areas of application range from computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to X-rays and ultrasound through to endoscopy, advised Adlink.

Adlink Technology offers availability system availability for at least five years. The processor boards and the graphics cards are developed and produced in-house.

come from our own development and production, so that customer support for all components comes from a single source.

In imaging processes in medical technology, the MLB-300x systems offer GPU via an MXM slot with standard configurations available for MXM graphics modules with a choice of Nvidia Quadro graphics cores (Pascal, Turing and Ampere). The MLB-3002 systems have two additional PCI Express slots for dedicated frame grabbers or other graphics cards.

In MXM modules based on the Ampere and Turing architecture, ray tracing, which is crucial for 3D volumetric imaging, is based on hardware accelerators, called RT cores. This means the rendering of image data is possible in real time for the first time, said Adlink. The onboard Tensor cores accelerate the matrix calculations in deep learning neural network training and inference operations, enabling artefact removal, contrast adjustment and image sharpness enhancement.

The new IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 compliant MLB-300x medical computers are available with a choice of 11 Intel Core processors up to the Intel Core i7-9700E which has eight computing cores. Two configurations with Intel Celeron processors are also available for cost-sensitive applications.

All systems support up to 64Gbyte DDR4 2666 RAM. For imaging processes with GPU-accelerated AI, they can be equipped with nine different MXM graphics modules as required. The current flagship is the MXM module with real-time capable Nvidia RTX A4500 GPU from the Ampere family. It offers 5120 CUDA, 160 Tensor and 40 RT Tensor cores and achieves a performance of up to 17.8 TFLOPS FP32.

All MLB-300x systems support up to six independent displays to aid clinicians in diagnostics and in operating theatres. The MLB-3002 systems can be expanded with additional frame grabber or graphics cards via two PCIe x4 slots. Additional peripherals can be connected via up to six USB 3.2 Gen x1, two USB 2.0, one RS-232/422/485, an RS-232 and four optional digital I/Os. There are three Gigabit Ethernet and optional WLAN ports for edge networking options.

Medical power supplies with up to 220W or conventional solutions with up to 500W are available to customers for the power supply.
