Adapter extends modular M12/M8/D-sub connector range for distribution boxes
Provertha has added an adapter to its modular, full metal design connector range designed for distribution boxes. The patented adapter realises the gap-free, form-fit connection and linking of modular T-/Y-distributors and distribution boxes as well as D-Sub distribution boxes, said the company. It is available in a nine- or 15-pin design. The design ensures that stranded wires or cables can be looped through to the next box without any problems, said the company.
Interlinking the compact M12 T-/Y-distributors or multiple distribution boxes with the adapter, enables fully shielded distribution in harsh applications with any number of inputs and outputs possible. The design of the adapter ensures that the 360 degree shielding is maintained for the complete distribution.
Provertha’s modular system enables customised distribution with expansion options and interlinking of distribution boxes using the adapter. It also offers flexibility thanks to various connection options to tailor a distribution system to specific requirements.
Provertha offers pluggable M12 adapters in male and female versions for the codings A, B, D and A-8, M8 adapters in male and female versions for the codings A-3, A-4 and D and nine– and 15-pin D-sub male and female versions. Locking options include the D-Sub push-pull quick-locking system Quick Lock.
Versions which are IP67-rated are available for railway technology and factory automation with increased requirements on functional reliability and shielding
The shielding design has overlapping contours between the enclosure and the cover on all distribution boxes. Combined with the all-metal enclosure in zinc die-cast, the design protects against damage, said Provertha. To meet railway and factory automation fire protection requirements, the plastic components and the potting compound are designed in both EN 45545 and UL 94-V0.
The crimp flange/crimp sleeve system provides 360 degree shielding while the cable strain relief and cable shield connection are torsion- and vibration-proof. Special cables with an outer diameter of up to 14 mm can be connected with safe shielding transmission and strain relief using the solid external cable clamp. Anti-kink sleeves are available for low-cost cable connection without shielding requirements. Unused inlets and outlets can be reliably sealed with blanking plugs. The distribution boxes can be securely fastened to the wall with two integrated brackets.
Assembled according to the customer’s specification and delivered as a 100 per cent tested and complete distribution system, Provertha said the pluggable connections directly at the distribution box or at the end of the cable eliminate assembly errors.
