Waterproof pressure sensors resist organic constituents in gases
Waterproof pressure sensors have been added to Alps Alpine’s pressure sensor range, starting mass production of a new waterproof pressure sensor that retains existing water resistance performance while also being highly resistant to organic constituents in gases.
The company’s pressure sensors have been used for wearable devices, where water resistance is an important factor. The company has redesigned the resin sensor covering to provide chemical resistance, making the sensor suitable for use in the gas meter market.
The redesigned adhesive resin between the metal lid and ceramic substrate has been strengthened to enhance shock resistance. The shape of the sensor is unchanged and water resistance is achieved by setting it inside the housing with an O-ring, advised Alps Alpine.
In addition to chemical resistance, shock resistance and environmental resistance, the surface mount sensor is described as easy to attach. It has a supply voltage of 1.7 to 3.6V and a measurement range of 300 to 2000hPa.
Alps Alpine serves the automotive, mobile device and consumer electronics markets, as well as the energy, healthcare and industry sectors.
