Harwin adds male connectors to Kona connector series
New mating variants and multiple cabling options have been added to the 3kV Kona high power connector range by Harwin. The male connectors added to the range are suitable for use with both standard cable connection and made-to-order cable assemblies.
The male connectors provide connections for all Kona contact count options. Engineers can select housings with or without panel mount fixings (compatible with the thumbscrew fixings on the female). Reverse-fix thumbscrews (compatible with female reverse-fix panel mount fixings) are also available. All fixings are designed to mate-before-lock. The male solder contact accepts 8AWG wire.
Kona connectors are used in electric vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and robotics series is used widely in many applications, including New Space, electric vehicles, UAVs, robotics and so-called new space (satellites and rockets).
The compact, high-reliability connectors have contacts rated at 60A each, giving a total current carrying capacity of 240A when using the four contact version. The new variants will allow engineers to design more effective power distribution around demanding applications, said Harwin.
Kona cable assemblies are available on-demand. They are produced at the company’s dedicated cable assembly facility. Options include double-ended and single-ended variants, with supporting male-to-male, male-to-female, and female-to-female configurations.
“We see the demand for high-power interconnects growing rapidly. These are often in applications with limited space and where we see challenges due to vibration and shock,” states Ryan Smart, head of product management at Harwin
For over 70 years, Harwin has been supplying engineers with the connectors they need to meet the most demanding specifications. Harwin’s interconnect portfolio of high-reliability products is designed for high performance applications in the harshest operating environments or within the tightest of spaces.
Harwin products are found in space, avionics, defence, robotics, oil/gas, healthcare, and motorsport, plus industrial drives, factory automation systems, unmanned vehicles, smart agriculture and electric vehicle battery management.
The range is available from a network of distributors and specialist local partners, supported by Harwin’s own worldwide aftersales team.
