Multi-stream audio streaming “revolutionises” sound, says NXP
Wireless listening and hearing is revolutionises with the NXH3675 low power Bluetooth audio, said NXP. It is certified to the Bluetooth 5.3 Low Energy (LE) audio standard and enables multi-stream wireless audio streaming with low power consumption and latency.
The integrated, single chip 2.4GHz transceiver enables developers to create innovative Bluetooth audio products with features like audio transmission, broadcasting capabilities and multiple audio streams and data channels. The optimised audio streaming protocol ensures the device delivers low latency with low power consumption for applications such as gaming headsets, hearing aids, soundbars and TV transmitters, and wireless headphones, earbuds, speakers and microphones.
Millions of consumers already use Bluetooth audio devices in everyday life, from earbuds to hearing aids and other hearable devices. It is estimated that 1.3 billion Bluetooth audio streaming devices were shipped in 2021. Bluetooth LE audio increases audio quality and enables audio sharing and hearing assistance as well as new use cases that are not possible with classic Bluetooth audio, explained NXP.
“The new Bluetooth LE audio standard is set to revolutionise the wireless listening and hearing experience. This requires wireless transceivers with advanced audio processing capabilities that are power efficient with ultra-low latency,” said Karolien De Baere, product marketing and business development, NXP. The NXH3675 complies with Bluetooth 5.3, supporting multiple streams, while exhibiting low power consumption and low latency, via NXP’s optimised protocol.
It is Bluetooth 5.3 LE audio-certified with Auracast, a broadcast audio communication. This enables creative audio sharing in the 2.4GHz radio band. It also has an Arm Cortex-M0+ for supporting flexible software link-layer protocol up to the HCI level, enabling multi-stream applications.
There is also a dual CoolFlux DSP for audio processing of the LC3 and LC3+ audio encoder/decoder. Audio and voice enhancements include EQ, compression, gain control and mixing.
To simplify development and reduce time-to-market, NXP offers the NXH3675 starter kit, which includes an evaluation kit for debug and evaluation purposes, gaming headset and dongle application kits, and a software development kit.
