TDK-Lambda adds six models to Genesys+ series
TDK has introduced six new models to the 7.5kW TDK-Lambda Genesys+ series of high power density programmable DC power supplies. As a result, the series now provides incremental and seamless choices in output voltage and current ranging from 0 to 20V / 375A to 0 to 1,500V / 5A.
Target applications for the 7.5kW power supplies are automotive testing, including electric and hybrid cars, general test or research, measurement, semiconductor fabrication, battery manufacturing and renewable energy.
The six new models offer 0 to 30V / 250A, 0 to 60V / 125A, 0 to 80V / 94A, 0 to 200V / 37.5A, 0 to 300V / 25A and 0 to 1,000V / 7.5A. The power supplies can operate in constant current, constant voltage or constant power limit modes and offer internal resistance simulation. They can be specified to accept three-phase 170 to 265V AC or wide range 342 to 528V AC inputs, with active power factor correction. Operating efficiencies are up to 92 per cent.
The 7.5kW output power enables system configurators to avoid the need to parallel lower wattage power supplies, reducing the rack or cabinet size. The series benefits from digital signal processing and components, including ferrite materials, to obtain efficiencies of 91 to 92 per cent.
The Genesys+ 7.5kW measures 423 x 486.5mm and 43.6mm (1U) high, making it suitable for zero stack rack mounting. Cooling is provided by variable speed fans monitoring the ambient temperature and the output load for lower audible noise. Weight is less than 8.5kg for easy handling.
All models in the Gensys+ series have a high contrast, wide viewing angle LCD with user-controllable brightness and dimming, fast programming response times, as well as user adjustable voltage and current slew rate control. Arbitrary waveform test profiles of up to 100 steps can be generated and stored in four memory cells and activated by commands from the communication ports or the front panel controls.
The power supplies use TDK-Lambda’s parallel system (patent pending) which allows a multiple unit system to achieve a dynamic response and ripple and noise performance comparable to that of a single power supply. Up to 12 Genesys+ units can be connected in parallel via a single data link cable and connecting the dc outputs. The command and auxiliary units auto-configure by detecting the parallel data connection and setting their parameters accordingly.
Programming is consistent across the entire Genesys+ series by either front panel controls, remotely via LAN (LXI 1.5), USB 2.0 and RS232 / 485 communications, or by using the isolated analogue control and monitoring (0 to 5V, 0 to 10V), which are provided as standard. Optional interfaces include a choice of EtherCAT or Modbus-TCP or GPIB (IEEE488.2). Software drivers, a waveform creator and a virtual front panel GUI are provided in the software package. Safety features are standard in all Genesys+ power supplies, providing safe / auto re-start, last setting memory and built-in protection functions.
The power supplies are covered by a five year warranty and are certified to IEC / EN / UL 61010-1 with CE and UKCA marking to the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS directives. They also comply with IEC / EN 61204-3 for conducted and radiated EMI and EMC immunity.
