Low profile and compact WireClip connector saves space says Provertha
Provertha has expanded its WireClip range with a compact, low profile variant to save space for wire-to-board applications.
The low-profile variant has a has a flat installation height of 2.5mm. It is designed with space saving clips and equipped with ready-to-connect cable assemblies that contact individual strands and wires on the PCB. The WireClip assemblies are suitable for use in industrial automation and the automotive industry says Provertha. In the latter, they can be used in critical systems relating to vehicle safety and in the steering wheel area. They are also used by sensor manufacturers, who often have to overcome the challenges of confined installation spaces for populated PCB assemblies, noted Provertha.
The patented WireClip consists of a specially designed plastic part with an integrated snap-in board lock. The individual strands, which have been twisted and tin-plated in a special manufacturing process beforehand, are inserted, angled and cut to size in a device.
WireClips are available as 90-degree and straight versions, as well as special designs, for example over-moulded variants. The new low profile WireClips reduce the space requirement compared to the standard single row version.
The current portfolio of low profile WireClips includes three-pin and four-pin versions for AWG22 (0.35mm²) stranded wires. Provertha can also produce customised WireClip assemblies, with different numbers of pins and other wire cross sections, in its own toolmaking department.
