Hirose offers micro coaxial connectors for automotive applications
Compact coaxial connectors from Hirose now include the miniature U.FL(K) series for automotive applications.
It features gold-plated contacts for corrosion resistance and peeling strength using four ground contacts for shock and vibration resistance. As a result, the U.FL(K) series coaxial connector offers a long operational life in harsh environment applications, confirmed Hirose. Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is just 1.6 (max – DC to 8GHz).
The connector has a low profile of just 2.5 mm and high frequency performance suitable for use in automotive applications including antennas, AVN (audio, video and navigation), camera modules and telematics. The miniature footprint enables automotive designers to shrink the design or add more functionality in the same space.
The U.FL(K) series coaxial connector measures 3.0 x 3.1m, suitable for pick and place, to simplify the assembly process. A clear tactile click improves operability and confirms correct mating.
“Hirose invented the industry standard U.FL connector design that is used globally in wireless technology,” said Mark Kojak, senior vice president of sale and operations for Hirose Electric USA. The introduction of the U.FL(K) continues the company’s history of downsizing connectors while increasing performance and reliability to meet application specific demands, he continued. “This automotive micro coaxial connector gives designers more options to meet challenging size and functionality application requirements”.
Hirose Electric supplies interconnect products and offers engineering services, customer support and worldwide manufacturing capabilities to provide value-based connector solutions for various industries including industrial, telecommunication, consumer electronics, computer and automotive.
