Recom launches four-model surface mount DC/DC converter range
Surface mount, cost-effective, regulated DC/DC converters launched by Recom have a 4:1 input ratio and are rated at 5W, 3W, 2W, and 1W.
The R5M, R3M, R2M, and R1M modules are rated at 5W, 3W, 2W, and 1W respectively. The parts all have a case size of 13.2 x 9.1mm footprint and a height of 10.2mm. The R2M is additionally available in a through-hole DIP8 package.
All parts operate over a 4:1 input range of 9.0 to 36V DC or optionally 18 to 75V DC. The R3M, R2M, and R1M models additionally include 4.5 to 18V input. Single, fully regulated outputs available are 3.3, 5.0, 9.0, 12, 15 and 24V while dual outputs featured are ±5.0, ±12, and ±15V.
The isolation rating for all parts is 1.6kV per minute, and no minimum load is needed. Continuous short circuit protection is included along with an on/off control pin.
The circuit and thermal design results in high efficiency, peaking at 84 per cent, allowing operation up to at least 100 degrees C ambient with derating and at full load up to 90 degrees C for the 1W part and 50 degrees C for the 5W part. The minimum temperature is -40 degrees C.
EN 55032 EMC class A and B limits can be met with just a few external components, said Recom. Reliability is high, for example, 8.5M hours for the 1W part according to MIL-HDBK-217F, GB, 25 degrees C. All parts are covered by the Recom three-year warranty and are available in tube packaging.
According to Matthew Dauterive DC/DC product manager of Recom, the wide input DC/DCs’ common format allows engineers to easily upgrade to a higher power as required and offer the convenience of surface mount terminations.
Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.
Recom Power manufactures a full range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats.
The company’s headquarters are located in Gmunden, Austria, and include a logistics research and development centre and laboratory wing and is supported by a worldwide distribution network.
