Temperature sensor module meets timekeeping functions
A 12bit temperature sensor module from Micro Crystal offers on-chip 12-bit ADC providing a temperature resolution of 0.0625 degrees C with a low current consumption of 160nA and I2C interface.
The RV-3032-C7 temperature sensor module has a custom IC with embedded temperature sensor, RTC functions and integrated quartz crystal resonator and, according to Micro Crystal, sets new standards in low power, small size and power management capabilities.
The RV-3032-C7 is suitable for applications requiring always-on temperature monitoring, limits crossing detection and timekeeping functions, with compliance to stringent clock accuracy over time.
The wide temperature operating range of -40 to +105 degrees C and the RV-3032-C7’s long battery life make it suitable for monitoring cold chains.
The low power consumption and power management features, including a wide supply voltage range (1.2 to 5.5V), automatic backup switch, versatile charge pump, and programmable trickle charger, enable the RV-3032-C7 can be coupled with a small sized, low capacity, rechargeable battery, or a low cost coin cell power unit.
The sensor module also allows setting high and low temperature threshold alarms with time stamp and interrupt functions. It also allows end users to make a one-point calibration, to increase the absolute accuracy. This module provides all standard real time clock features, i.e., calendar and time from year to 100th seconds. It includes multiple extra functions, like external event detection, data protection through password, EEPROM, RAM and frequency output (Hz to MHz), despite its miniature form factor, said Micro Crystal.
Target applications are battery powered IoT, communication, computer, consumer, environmental, industrial, automotive and instrumentation applications.
The module is hermetically sealed in a compact reflow solderable SON-8 ceramic package and measures 3.2 x 1.5 x 0.8mm. It is RoHS / lead-free compliant and AEC-Q200 qualified.
