Rugged, managed Gigabit switch meets or exceeds mil standards

The uMagbes family is a five to 19 port-manageable Gbit Ethernet (GbE) switch. It is designed for low power consumption, fanless, extended temperature operation and long term availability, said MPL.

It is characterised by a compact design. For example, the uMagbes-Mil in a robust IP67 housing, offers a 10-port switch with two 38999 connectors in a form factor of just 130 x 130 x 55mm. It is, said MPL, a suitable SWaP-C switch which can be integrated in systems where space is limited.

The μMagbes-Mil comes with lockable headers to interface to 38999 connectors, making it suitable for any defence specification, confirmed MPL. The company has standard products for use where one or more fibre ports are required.

The standard input power requirement of the GbE switch is 5.0 to 36V DC and the device uses less than 6W at full speed with 10 ports operational. Other input voltages can be offered depending on specification. The switch can be operated in an environment of -20 to +60 degrees C, and optionally -40 to +85 degrees C and does not need to be cooled by a fan.

The μMagbes is designed to be operated in a master-slave configuration to facilitate a flexible system with a cascaded switch easy. It is available with 19 or more ports, including a command line interface (CLI) option.

The switch is configurable via a web interface (including SSL), Telnet, SNMP (including SNMPv3) or RS232 / USB (CLI). It features a port-based and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN together with an IEEE 802.1D rapid spanning tree. It includes IEEE 802.1X MAC address checking.

Firmware updates are via HTTP or TFTP and there is also support for GMPv3 and gPTP.

All MPL products are designed for long-term availability and the μMagbes will be available for at least 10 years. MPL’s own component stock guarantees repairs for up to 20 years. Extended temperature ranges can be fulfilled and are tested in MPL’s own climatic chambers according to customer’s request.

The switch meets or exceeds the most common standards, in particular Mil-Std-461, Mil-Std-810 and Mil-Std-1275.
