Boxer-8224AI is carrier board with Jetson Nano module in small form factor

Equipped with MIPI-CSI camera support and a wafer-based coastline on an small form factor, the Boxer-8224AI is based on the Nvidia Jetson Nano module, a carrier board and a heatsink, explained Aaeon.

It is compact, measuring just 120 x 80 x 22mm (4.7 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches). It differentiates itself from other Aaeon products, with a board layout which includes a wafer-based coastline rather than full I/O ports to provide users with the full functionality the company’s system-level edge AI in a more flexible way, explained the company. This configuration includes two MIPI-CSI camera connectors to enable users to install smaller, more cost-effective peripheral cameras for applications where space is limited, for example in drones.

The support for MIPI-CSI cameras also offers triple the bandwidth of Ethernet-based camera connections and substantially more stability than USB cameras, according to Aaeon. The Boxer-8224AI still maintains GbE, USB 3.2, HDMI 2.0, UART and general purpose I/O functions via pin wafer connectors so that developers can use these without sacrificing board space.

The Boxer-8224AI is also equipped with expansion options such as M.2, MicroSD, and Mini Card slots for Wi-Fi, 4G and additional storage modules.

The visual interface and UART function enabling nine-axis IMU sensor connectivity, makes the carrier board suitable for people counting, public safety and smart manufacturing applications, with a wide operating temperature range of -20 to around +60 degrees C.

Aaeon was established in 1992. The company designs and manufactures industrial IoT and AI edge products and computing platforms including industrial motherboards and systems, rugged tablets, embedded AI edge systems, uCPE network appliances and LoRaWAN / WWAN products.

Aaeon works closely with premier chip designers to deliver stable, reliable platforms, and is recognised as an Elite Partner within the Nvidia Partner Network (NPN).
