E7 adds dual 2.5Gbit TSN Ethernet ports to embedded systems
Rugged, industrial temperature range, Ethernet expansion modules by VersaLogic are an effective and reliable way to add two high speed 2.5Gbit Ethernet channels to an embedded computer system. The latest, the E7, is a 2.5Gbit TSN (time sensitive networking) Ethernet expansion module rated for operation at a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.
The E7 provides two independent IEEE 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports and is backward compatible with slower standards (10BASE-TE/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T). It supports TSN when paired with TSN-capable processors. It is also in a compact form factor ideal for size and weight-optimised applications.
Len Crane, VersaLogic’s president, said: “This powerful Mini PCIe expansion board takes thermal management seriously and works flawlessly across the full industrial temperature range.”
Unlike other Ethernet expansion offerings, the E7 is self-contained with onboard magnetic isolation, eliminating the need for off-board magnetic paddleboards. It is also suitable for mission-critical applications with thermal management for operation over the full industrial temperature range (-40 to +85 degrees C). In addition, latching connectors, soldered down transceivers, and MIL-STD-202H shock and vibration testing ensure performance in demanding conditions.
The E7 is customisable, even in low OEM quantities. Customisation options include conformal coating, revision locks, custom labelling, customised testing and customised screening.
The module is compatible with popular operating systems, such as Linux and Windows. The module is also designed for high reliability and long term availability (10+ year typical production lifecycle).
The E7 (VL-MPEe-E7E and VL-MPEe-E7S) series is now in stock and also available from Digi-Key.
VersaLogic delivers embedded computers and expert technical support for critical markets such as medical and defence. The products’s features include long term availability, industrial temperature range operation, MIL-STD-202 shock and vibration testing and US-based support.
