Flex crams 60W into 50 x 25mm DC/DC converter package
The PKE3600A range of DC/DC converters provides up to 60W and are in an industry standard 50.8 x 25.4 x 11.9mm (2.0 x 1.0 x 0.47 inch) through-pin package.
Flex Power Modules’ latest DC/DC series has a wide input range of 9.0 to 36V DC, covering applications using both 12V and 24V nominal inputs. It also provides a choice of fully regulated single outputs: 5.0, 12, 24, 48 or 54V. Efficiency is up to 91 per cent and operating temperature is between -40 to +100 degrees C.
Isolation for the PKE3600A series is 1600V DC input to output and I/O to case. The parts meet the safety requirements of IEC/EN 62368-1 for functional isolation. There is also full protection against over-temperature, input under-voltage and output over-current, over-voltage and short circuits. MTBF across the series is over 8M hours according to Telcordia SR-332 Issue 3, Method 1 at 25 degrees C. EMC standards EN 55032, CISPR32 and FCC part 15J are met with good margin with an external filter network, reported Flex, using suggested components listed in the data sheet. The parts also meet standard EN 45545-2 for railway fire safety. A remote-control input is featured along with an output voltage adjust function.
Flex Power Modules, a business line of Flex, manufactures scalable DC/DC power converters primarily serving the data processing, communications, industrial and transportation markets. The company offers a wide range of both isolated and non-isolated solutions, and digitally-enabled DC/DC converters including PMBus compatibility which are supported by its Flex Power Designer tool.
