Differential pressure sensors save power, says AMSYS
Sustainable differential pressure sensors have been added to the AMSYS portfolio. The AMS 5935 low power pressure sensor can measure even low pressures in the ±125 pascal range, said the company.
The sensors are suitable for battery powered devices used to monitor wearable devices, such as sports and mobile medical equipment. The sensors and components in these devices have a high energy requirement which necessitates frequent battery recharging. The AMS 5935 sensors feature an integrated I2C/SPI interface that outputs calibrated pressure and temperature readings at a very low current consumption (250nA in sleep mode and 2mA during measurements). They also have a low supply voltage of 1.7 to 3.6V.
The board mount sensor is based on a piezo resistive pressure sensing element with a signal processing ASIC in a ceramic DIL package, making it suitable for PCB mounting. The AMS 5935 has a low total error over a temperature range of -25 to 85 degrees C and an even smaller error at room temperature, making it an accurate, low power pressure sensor.
The digital 18-bit pressure sensor is a sustainable component in mobile breathing aids and devices which need to have increased runtime, said AMSYS.
The AMS 5935 is designed for pressure ranges of ±1.25 mbar and for various differential, relative, bi-directional and absolute pressures from 0 to 2,000 mbar.
The DIL version provides vertical pressure ports for tube connections. Alternatively, a space-saving manifold variant is available and can be mounted directly to a valve block using O-rings. Customer-specific adaptations are also possible.
AMSYS also offers 3D data and a USB starter kit for prototype engineering and has a team of consultants to provide support where necessary.
