Reference designs channel multiple signals through single array connector
Reference designs, released by Samtec, make it possible to route high speed digital, analogue and power signals through a single array connector.
Samtec has enhanced its open-pin-field arrays to simultaneously run analogue, digital and power signals. The new reference designs allow its proven high-performance connector arrays, such as the SEARAY, to support analogue signals.
Intended for use in high-density RF applications, the new analogue over array reference designs allow dense, open-pin-field connectors to support digital and analogue differential or single-ended signalling as well as power. These high-density array connectors are already used in high-speed, high performance digital and power applications, now, their differential ground pattern can be used to support RF SOCs and applications such as 5G wireless, remote PHY/MSOs, phased array radar, test and measurement and LEO/MEO satellites.
Performance is specified at 8GHz bandwidth and 50 Ohm system impedance for single-ended or 100 Ohm for differential types. Return loss is -12dB up to 4GHz and -10dB up to 8GHz.
Crosstalk isolation between channels is -69dBc to 4GHz, -63dBc to 8GHz.
The reference design includes recommended pin mapping as part of a full characterisation report. Additional reference designs are in development for applications out to 40GHz, revealed Samtec.
Founded in 1976, Samtec is a privately held manufacturer of a broad line of electronic interconnect solutions, including high-speed board-to-board, high-speed cables, mid-board and panel optics, precision RF, flexible stacking, and micro/rugged components and cables. Samtec Technology Centers develop and advance technologies, strategies, and products to optimise both the performance and cost of a system from the bare die to an interface 100 meters away, and all interconnect points in between.
The company has over 40 international locations and sells products sold in more than 125 different countries.
