Automatically resettable surface mount mini-breaker is smallest yet, says Bourns
Bourns has unveiled its smallest surface mount mini-breaker thermal cutoff device. The Model SW mini-breaker has a 4.7 x 2.8mm footprint with a height of just 0.94 mm.
It is designed to control abnormal, excessive temperature virtually instantaneously, up to rated limits for over-temperature protection for a range of applications that include LED systems, wireless charging coils, motors, and for a variety of PCB components. The mini-breaker can also be used as an over-temperature sensor.
The Model SW mini-breaker complements Bourns’ Model SD series with features and functionality that meet lower current protection application requirements. It offers a trip temperature setting of 70 degrees C ±5 degrees C, with maximum resistance values of 5.0 mOhm. For wireless charging applications, the mini-breaker model can operate up to 100V peak (AC 128kHz).
The mini-breaker is manufactured using Bourns’ highest rated corrosion resistant bi-metal mechanism and is designed to withstand humid environments.
It is available now and is RoHS-compliant.
Bourns manufactures and supplies position and speed sensors, circuit protection solutions, magnetic components, microelectronic modules, panel controls and resistive products.
The company is headquartered in Riverside, California, USA, and serves a broad range of markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications and medical (low/medium risk) and audio market segments.
