Kontron motherboard series now supports the latest Intel Core processors
Kontron has announced the release of BIOS Update R2.12.0 for all K38xx series motherboards. With this update, Kontron extends the support for Intel Core processors from the 12th and 13th to the 14th generation for the ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards developed and produced in Germany.
The R2.12.0 update covers all existing platforms in Kontron’s ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX form factors, including the K3851-R ATX motherboard and the ultra-thin K3831-H Thin mITX, designed specifically for retail applications. The update not only ensures an increase in performance, but also longer platform availability.
Based on the Intel Performance Hybrid Architecture, the new Intel® Core processors feature up to 24 cores (8 Performance Cores and 16 Efficient Cores). The Intel Core i7 processors have received upgrades, now offering a maximum of 20 cores. These adjustments ensure optimised performance in demanding application scenarios. The CPU series also offers discrete support for the new Wi-Fi 7 wireless standard.
Support for the Intel Core processors of the 14th generation will be available for all Micro-ATX motherboards, including K3842-Q µATX and K3841-Q µATX, from mid-March 2024. All ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards (K3851-R ATX, K3833-Q mITX, K3832-Q mITX and K3831-H Thin mITX) will follow in several steps.
