Aaeon adds DDR5 support for industrial automation ATX motherboards
The first ATX motherboard with support for DDR5 from Aaeon, the ATX-Q670A, has enhanced security for industrial automation.
The ATX-Q670A can provide a 50 per cent increase in bandwidth and also a decrease in power consumption compared to prior generations, said Aaeon. It is suitable for IoT applications and combines SATA performance with fast SSD to give customer applications access to higher I/O speeds, added the company.
The ATX-Q670A is also more expansive, offering two PCIe [x16] slots alongside both a PCIe [x4] and PCIe [x1] slot, in addition to a further three PCI slots. There is also support for a dual graphic card for video capture to AI calculation for vision-based applications and support for four independent 4K at 60Hz resolution display capabilities.
There is also a bootable USB feature to protect the transfer of large volumes of data. This prevents bootable programs from accessing the system via a USB device.
Typical applications are likely to be IoT-based, for example, smart healthcare and industrial automation, said Aaeon.
Established in 1992, Aaeon designs and manufactures industrial IoT and AI edge solutions, providing industrial motherboards and systems, rugged tablets, embedded AI Edge systems, uCPE network appliances, and LoRaWAN / WWAN products.
