Camera break through GigE barriers, says Teledyne Flir
The latest additions to Teledyne Flir’s Blackfly S GigE camera line up are the BFS-PGE-161S7M and BFS-PGE-161S7C which are compact.
The latest Blackfly S cameras have a Lossless Compression feature, delivering up to 60 per cent higher frame rates without compromising on image quality. Lossless Compression enables 60 per cent higher frames per second (FPS) and from 7FPS to 12 FPS at full resolution. According to Flir, the cameras replace several low-resolution cameras with a single unit, delivering higher frame rates, lower bandwidth utilisation and lower lighting system requirements. These new Blackfly S global shutter cameras can be used for a range of applications from PCB and semiconductor inspections to metrology and scientific research.
The Blackfly S cameras have a 16Mpixel global shutter for precise measurement of large objects. Flir reports that high quantum efficiency (QE) and low noise yield a low absolute sensitivity threshold (4.1 photon AST). They also exhibit superior quantum efficiency, says Flir at 69 per cent QE at 525nm. They also exhibit excellent low light performance, says Flir, rated at 2.34 e- read noise. BSI pixels enable less expensive, more compact optics, continues Flir, with high sensitivity (high QE and low AST) to reduce lighting system requirements.
Teledyne Flir is a Teledyne Technologies company, providing intelligent sensing solutions for defence and industrial applications. It was founded in 1978.
