Compact power supplies are for medical use and body floating applications
Two medical power supplies extend the range available from Cosel. The compact 30W UMA30F and 60W UMA60F both feature a universal input range of 85 to 264V AC and comply with international safety standards.
Designed for demanding medical applications, the UMA series is suitable for body floating (BF) applications and complies with 2MOPP (in/out) and 1MOPP (out/frame ground or FG) safety requirements. The power supplies are available in up to five output voltages of 5.0, 12, 15, 24 and 48V DC.
Based on Cosel’s flyback topology, the UMA series can be operated within a universal input range of 85 to 264V AC and has a typical efficiency up to 91 per cent at high line.
Currently four single output voltages are available as standard for the UMA30F. These are 5V/3A, 12V/2.5A, 24V/1.3A and 48V/0.65A. There are five single output voltages available for the UMA60F. These are 5V/6A, 12V/4.5A, 15V/3.5A, 24V/2.5A and 48V/1.25A. Output is factory adjusted to a fixed value but in applications where output voltage adjustment is required an option with a potentiometer is available.
The UMA series includes inrush current limiting circuitry, over-current, and over-voltage protection. The power supplies can be operated in an environmental temperature range of -20 to +70 degrees C. Depending on the final equipment assembly style and cooling conditions, a derating may apply, advised Cosel.
The power supplies’ input to output isolation complies with 2MOPP, its input to frame ground (FG) complies with 1MOPP, and output to FG with 1MOPP.
The power supplies are approved in accordance with ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and EN60601-1 3rd Edition. They also have a patient leakage current of 75 microA which is less than the 100 microA required for BF (body floating) applications.
To accommodate application specific requirements, Cosel offers three options which are adjustable output voltage (denoted by Y) and terminal block (T). The UMA30F and UMA60F are also available with reinforced isolation in conformance with the IEC class II (E).
The UMA30F measures 50.8 x 76.2 x 21.7mm [2.0 x 3.0 inches and 0.85 inches tall] and weighs 80g (max). The UMA60F has the same dimensions and is slightly taller at 24.2mm and weighs 120g (max).
All power supplies in the UMA series have a five-year warranty and conform to the European RoHS and Low Voltage Directives.
