DLR, SYSGO, and MathWorks share best practices for building reliable embedded architectures in December 3rd webinar

SYSGO and MathWorks, will host a webinar on December 3 at 3:00 pm EST. During the webinar, MathWorks, SYSGO, and DLR (German Aerospace Centre) will discuss the integration of Model-Based Design with PikeOS, ARINC 653, and IMA architectures

SYSGO and MathWorks have integrated MATLAB, Simulink, and the PikeOS real-time operating system to streamline the development of certifiable embedded systems. This collaboration allows engineers to generate PikeOS-native applications directly from Simulink models using familiar tools like Embedded Coder and SYSGO’s CODEO IDE. By simplifying project configuration—including partitioning, scheduling, and inter-partition communication—and enabling early validation through QEMU simulation, the integration reduces development time and certification complexity. It also enhances interoperability between Simulink-generated applications and PikeOS services, allowing developers to assemble software components, such as kernels, I/O servers, and applications, into bootable PikeOS ROM images. This improves consistency from model design to execution and expands access to safety-critical domains like avionics and automotive—all while leveraging existing toolchains and partner ecosystems.

Use Cases and Industry Applications
Joint customers are already exploring new applications using SYSGO and MathWorks software, including:
• Integrated modular avionics (IMA)
• Battery Management Systems in electrified vehicles (i.e. motorsport, mining industry), leveraging MATLAB® code generation on PikeOS
• Software-Defined Radio with MATLAB® Embedded Coder® and PikeOS Application Generation for Xilinx Linux
• Model-Based Design for aerospace, automotive, or industrial control systems
• Hardware-in-the-loop setups
• Formal support for Simulink Targets and Board Support Package (BSP) configurations

Franz Walkembach, VP Marketing & Alliances, SYSGO, said: “This partnership with MathWorks makes it easier than ever for our customers to move from model-based design to certifiable embedded systems. By integrating MATLAB and Simulink directly with PikeOS, we help engineers generate high quality code, shorten development cycles and reduce certification risk — all while using the tools they already know.”

Juan Valverde, Aerospace and Defense Industry Manager, added: “Combining Simulink and System Composer with SYSGO’s PikeOS empowers developers to take a model-driven approach to building reliable systems. This collaboration streamlines the journey from simulation to real-time execution across a wide range of safety-critical domains.”
