dSPACE and MathWorks expand partnership to enable RoadRunner integration with ASM OpenX
dSPACE and MathWorks have expanded their partnership to streamline traffic simulation using open standards. Developers of autonomous driving applications can now use road models created in RoadRunner directly in ASM OpenX, the latest generation of dSPACE traffic models, improving efficiency and reducing development time.
“By combining the ASM OpenX with RoadRunner as a powerful road editor, we enable our customers to simulate traffic scenarios much more efficiently and cost-effectively on a wide variety of road models and thus in a very broad range of operational design domains (ODDs),” explains Thorsten Püschl, Product Manager at dSPACE. “In close coordination with MathWorks, we have created a seamless and practical solution.”
ASM OpenX is the latest generation of dSPACE traffic models and is natively based on the open standards OpenSCENARIO XML and OpenDRIVE. In contrast to the previous ASM traffic models, the native use of standards eliminates the error-prone and time-consuming conversion of scenarios and road models. The requirement for manual rework is significantly reduced, making the use of OpenX in the dSPACE simulation tool chain much simpler, more robust, and more efficient.
RoadRunner is an interactive editor with programmatic APIs for designing detailed road models and 3D scenes as well as scenarios, supporting the OpenDRIVE and OpenSCENARIO standards. It enables efficient customisation and has proven in a comprehensive evaluation to be an ideal complement to ASM OpenX, especially for the provision of road models in OpenDRIVE.”
