Dual-channel solenoid driver IC is alternative to obsolete devices
A high voltage drive with low on resistance is provided by the TB67S112PG driver IC from Toshiba Electronics Europe. The dual-channel solenoid driver IC is suitable for a variety of applications including industrial equipment, such as office automation equipment, factory automation and equipment banking terminals such as ATMs, as well as domestic appliances (air-conditioners and refrigerators).
The TB67S112PG joins the existing TB67S111PG and TB67S158NG/FTG , four- and eight-channel solenoid driver ICs from Toshiba and provides support for dual-channel applications at a lower price point, says the company.
The TB67S112PG incorporates two channels, each consisting of a low-side MOSFET and a regenerative common diode that can independently drive a solenoid or relay at voltages up to 50V. A low on resistance of only 0.3 Ohm allows for a higher output voltage, resulting in higher motor torque, and reducing heat generation during motor operation. Safe operation is enabled through the provision of overcurrent detection, under voltage lockout detection and thermal shutdown detection. This last feature also sets a flag to notify the system controller of a thermal shutdown event.
Mass production of the TB67S112PG starts today.
