Harwin adds cable assemblies to durable 1.27mm pitch industrial connectors
Harwin has expanded its Archer Kontrol board-to-board industrial connector portfolio with the introduction of off-the-shelf IDC cable assembly options. The company listened to customer feedback to develop the off-the-shelf IDC cable assembly options to accompany its range of discrete connector components. The cable assemblies are available now direct from stock through Harwin’s global network of distributors.
On each of these assemblies, a ribbon cable is fitted with female connectors at either end, making it easier for engineers to implement Archer Kontrol units into systems. Cable lengths of 150 or 300mm are available off the shelf, with other lengths available upon request. The IDC design offers engineers a low profile, flexible cable assembly which is able to “bend considerably” to fit into tight spaces, says Harwin. The horizontal cable exit orientation also saves significant headroom above the connector.
The cable assemblies support all existing contact counts in the (12, 16, 20, 26, 32, 40, 50, 68 and 80) connector family. The contact areas have a gold flash finish deposited on them for a durable performance. A latching mechanism assures cable retention, resisting vibration and accidental disconnection. The components are optimised for modern industrial settings as they can handle data rates of up to 3Gbits per second.
Archer Kontrol connectors are used in industrial drives, factory automation systems, industrial IoT (IIoT), robotics and rugged handheld equipment. The connectors are resilient to the vibrations, mechanical shocks, high humidity levels and extreme temperatures often found in modern industrial settings. They have shrouded contacts which prevent potential damage from mismating and ensure continued interconnect integrity.
Harwin produces high reliability interconnect products suitable for the most exacting of application demands, for example defence, aerospace, space, industrial, oil/gas and motorsport sectors.
Harwin has developed an array of “must not fail” connector products, including the Gecko (1.25mm pitch), Datamate (2.0mm pitch), Mix-Tek (combined signal, power and coax) and high temperature M300 (3.0mm pitch) product lines. In addition, the company offers easy-to-implement EMI/RFI shielding, PCB hardware (e.g. spacers, links, bridges, terminals, test points) and a broad range of industry standard connectors. All are available with short lead times via Harwin’s sales and distribution network.
Harwin has sales offices and manufacturing facilities in the UK, the USA, Germany, France and Singapore.
