High input LDO regulators exhibit low current consumption for standby power

Three LDO (low drop out) regulators introduce Toshiba Electronics Europe’s TCR21HF series. The high input voltage and low current consumption regulators are the TCR1HF18B, TCR1HF33B, and TCR1HF50B and offer fixed output voltages of 1.8V, 3.3V and 5.0V respectively.

The LDO regulators have a wide input voltage range of 4V to 36V to support up to 20V for USB power delivery (USB-PD) or 24V-powered equipment such as mobile equipment, home appliances and factory automation equipment. They feature a low 1.0 microA quiescent current, allowing electronic equipment to maintain standby operation with very low power consumption.

The TCR1HF ICs are housed in small plastic moulded SOT-25 packages (Toshiba’s package name: SMV), the LDO regulators drive up to 150mA and operate at temperatures between -40 to +125 degrees C. The fast load transient response of -60mV / +50mV helps ensure a stable output voltage, said Toshiba, even during a sudden change in current, for example, when equipment moves from standby to operating state. Other standard features include over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and auto-discharge.

The TCR1HF18B, TCR1HF33B, and TCR1HF50B LDO regulators are shipping now.

A reference design for a Power multiplexer circuit using TCR1HF33B and TCR1HF50B is also available here from the Toshiba website.
