Hirose partners with Amphenol for ix Industrial connector
For industry 4.0 Ethernet connectivity, Hirose and Amphenol have announced a partnership to release ix Industrial connectors.
Hirose says it intends to continue to expand the use of the ix Industrial as a standard Ethernet connector in industrial devices and equipment.
Hirose’s ix Industrial is compatible with development partner Harting’s ix Industrial connector and is also intermatable with Amphenol’s ix Industrial interface.
The ix Industrial is intended for factory and process automation, machine to machine (M2M) communication, robotics, sensors, human interface devices. Its rugged, EMC resistant IEC 61076-3-124 design and Cat.6A high speed performance make it suitable for any devices which need Ethernet industrial IoT connectivity in an automated industrial environment.
Since its introduction in 2017, the ix Industrial has been used in factory automation, robotics and machine vision. It is characterised by its space-saving and durable Ethernet connection design for smart factory equipment including servo drives and robot controllers.
In the machine vision market, the ix Industrial has been certified as a GigE Vision standard connector. This global interface standard developed by the Automated Image Association (AIA) is widely used as a standard for Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) communication.
An ix Industrial adapter by Fluke Networks is also available. This is used by cable makers and installation contractors to test whether LAN cables satisfy Ethernet signal transmission.
