Humidity sensor keeps its cool even in voltatile organic compounds

When measuring humidity in environments with exposure to VOC (voltatile organic compounds), a drift occurs which over time causes faulty measurement results. The sensor needs to be removed and reset by heating, which is not only time-consuming, but ultimately amounts to maintenance costs. This design challenge is addressed by Innovative Sensor Technology (IST) which has introduced the latest member of the HYT series. The HYT 223 allows for an automatic reset without having to remove the sensor.

Innovative Sensor Technology IST has developed the multi-functional digital humidity and temperature module with an integrated micro-heater with long term stability and which maintains its accuracy long term with minimal drift. The accuracy at 0 to 50 degrees C is ± 1.8 per cent RH at 0 to 90 per cent RH and ± 3.0 per cent RH at 90 to 100 per cent RH.

The HYT 223 is a heatable digital humidity sensor with wide humidity and temperature ranges. Thanks to its PTFE membrane filter, it comes with high chemical resistance, said IST. The sensor is very stable at high humidity, which makes it suitable for monitoring processes with high humidity, e.g. incubators or greenhouses, or in applications chemicals requiring degassing to avoid drift, for example in swimming pools, in cheese production or animal farms.

The sensor has a wide operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees C, and a long term drift humidity / temperature of less than 0.5 per cent  RH/a / less than  0.05K/a.

The calibrated and temperature compensated sensor is suitable for the moisture analysis from low to high humidity ranges in environments with high exposure to VOC. The HYT 223 contains a micro heating structure which allows for thermal reconditioning. A reconditioning cycle is recommended in challenging atmospheres and conditions. Length and interval required depend on the application environment.
