“Industry’s smallest” smart motor modules reduces PCB requirements
Claimed to be the industry’s smallest smart motor module, the integrated AOZ9530QV smart motor module (SMM) has adjustable gate drive current control that provides a low EMI, said Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS).
The AOZ9530QV is a high efficiency module for one- or three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive designs.
The latest addition to the company’s compact Smart Motor Module (SMM) family is provided in a thermally enhanced 3.0 x 3.0mm QFN-18L package. The half bridge power stage can simplify motor drive designs, said AOS and is suitable for use in a large number of BLDC fan applications ranging from PC and server fans, to seat cooling and home appliances.
Protection features include short circuit protection, over temperature protection, Vcc under-voltage lock-out (UVLO) and bootstrap UVLO. The AOZ9530QV has an input voltage up to 28V and supporting high current up to 7A and low 11mOhm RDS(on) internal NFETs in the half bridge configuration. It also has a wide ambient temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees C and offers 100 per cent pulse width modulation (PWM) duty operation support.
The module also provides adjustable gate drive sink and source current control that gives designers the ability to minimise EMI while maximising power efficiency, said AOS. A single AOZ9530QV can be used for single phase applications, two AOZ9530QV SMMs would be used for an H-bridge motor drive, and three AOZ9530QV SMMs would be needed for three-phase designs.
The AOZ9530QV is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 24 weeks.
