Infineon announces programmable, three-phase driver IC at APEC 2021
For battery powered consumer and industrial applications like cordless power tools and service robots, Infineon has introduced the EiceDriver 6EDL7141. The programmable three-phase driver IC is packaged in a 48-pin VQFN with a 7.0 x 7.0mm² footprint.
It features a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for gate drive outputs configuration, an integrated power supply and dual charge pumps to supply all system functions. Operating voltage ranges from 5.5 to 60V and configurable driving current is up to 1.5A. It can therefore drive a wide range of MOSFETs effectively to fit the application, says Infineon. The 6EDL7141 has an adjustable gate driver supply voltage setting between 7.0, 10, 12 and 15V. The built-in dual charge pumps enable it to maintain the gate drive even at low battery voltage. The smart driver is equipped with an adjustable gate drive configuration, with several current levels and timing options to control the slew rate and minimise system electromagnetic interference (EMI).
All of the 6EDL7141 settings can be changed via the graphical user interface (GUI). There is also over-current protection at shunt or RDS (on), DVDD low dropout (LDO) and temperature warning and shutdown.
Other features include a configurable watchdog, rotor locked detection based on Hall sensor inputs and memory fault.
The EiceDriver 6EDL7141 motor control three-phase gate driver will be showcased at Infineon’s exhibitor platform at the APEC 2021 which will be held virtually from 14-17 June.
