Infineon SEMPER NOR Flash memory family achieves ASIL-D functional safety certification
Infineon has announced that SGS-TÜV has certified Infineon’s SEMPER NOR Flash memory to ASIL-D, the highest certification level for functional safety. Following a detailed analysis of product safety documentation under the ISO 26262:2018 standard, external experts from this leading assurance organisation have validated that SEMPER devices meet the most stringent safety performance targets for automotive applications.
With the rapid emergence of software-defined vehicles where microelectronic components drive vehicle functionality, performance, and safety, global OEMs and regulators insist on the highest levels of safety in electronic systems, from motor control and battery management to advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving.
“Automotive electronics require the highest levels of functional safety and reliability, and the ASIL-D certification of our SEMPER NOR Flash devices demonstrates our commitment to providing the best memory products for the automotive industry,” said Rainer Hoehler, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Memory Solutions, Infineon. “Infineon is the world leader in automotive NOR Flash memory products and was the first NOR manufacturer to launch products developed in compliance with the ISO26262 functional safety standard. We are proud that the experts at SGS-TÜV have certified our achievements in functional safety and invite our customers to design SEMPER NOR products into their most demanding applications.”
The ASIL-D certification applies to the full range of SEMPER NOR products, including QSPI, HYPERBUS, and JEDEC xSPI octal interfaces; 256-megabit to 2-gigabit densities; and BGA, WSON, and SOIC packages. These products are qualified to AEC-Q100 grade 1 standard and are widely deployed today in automotive applications including ADAS, zone control, gateway, and digital cockpit.
