Kioxia bases UFS embedded memory on its BiCS Flash technology
Built on fifth generation BiCS Flash 3D flash memory, 256 and 512Gbyte Universal Flash Storage (UFS) version 3.1 memories have been released by Kioxia Europe.
The thin profile and fast read / write speeds for mobile applications. The embedded flash memory devices are housed in 0.8 and 1.0mm high packages. They are thinner and faster than Kioxia’s previous UFS memories. Performance is improved by 30 per cent for random read and 40 per cent for random write.
Using the Kioxia’s latest high performance, fifth generation BiCS Flash 3D flash memory, the UFS version 3.1 memories are significant for non-volatile memory design.
“With the new Ver. 3.1 UFS our continued leadership in JEDEC standardisation results in another boundaries breakthrough on performance and form factors in the area of embedded non-volatile memories,” said Axel Stoermann, vice president memory marketing and engineering for Kioxia Europe.
“Consequent review and further development of Kioxia’s BiCS Flash 3D flash memory technology not only provides a new product range of random read and write speed in thinnest packaging formats, the new devices have the potential to be the preferred solution for a broad area of demanding industrial applications,” he declared.
