Neutrik Group launches fibre optic connectors at IBC2023

At this year’s IBC2023 the Neutrik Group is launching point-to-point high speed, high capacity and expanded beam fiber optic connectivity systems, compliant with MIL-DTL-83526 standard, power connectors, all-weather power distribution systems, and new generation simultaneous Dante / line I/O interface devices.

Neutrik’s opticalCON Advanced series now features two additional MTP high speed, high data capacity connectivity systems. The single mode MTP 16 and multi-mode MTP 48 provide 16 and 48 data channels respectively in a single cable. These offer standard solutions for point-to-point connections in professional AV and broadcast applications, with high reliability, rapid setup, immediate playback, and cost optimisation per single fibre / data channel.

The company is also introducing fibre optic connectors, the FiberFox EBC25 (pictured) and EBC25 X-TREME series of two and four-channel HMA expanded beam multi-mode fibre optic connectors. The EBC25 chassis is a jam-nut design, intended to meet an array of lighting, network, audio, video and broadcast signal applications in all manner of industrial, defence and civil engineering and transportation sectors, wherever consistent levels of performance and reliability are mission critical.

FiberFox EBC25 series has a temperature resistance of -46 to +71 degrees C, and the connector’s dimensions are compliant with the specifications of the MIL-DTL-83526 standard, making it compatible with other connectors using that standard. The FiberFox X-Treme EBC25 additionally offers a cut-proof, rodent-resistant double jacket glasses yarn cable construction. Exceptional cable retention is achieved using aramid yarn, with the entire cable design encased by a black PUR outer jacket, making the cable assembly suitable for outdoor applications, and able to withstand greater environmental impact. FiberFox EBC25 and FiberFox X-Treme EBC25 cable connectors come pre-assembled as a single component. The finished cable is available in standardised lengths and is packed either on a drum or air spool.

Neutrik and Rean are jointly offering a new series of power connectors certified to the latest IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60320-1 standards and approved as components for power connection cord sets and interconnecting cord sets according to EN IEC 60799:2021. This makes them compliant with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) within the European Economic Area.

New powerCON FXX series (blue/grey), powerCON True1-TOP (true outdoor protection) series and the Rean X series power connectors are power connectors certified to the latest international safety standards. The connectors feature circuit breaking capacity and discrete power-in and power-out keying, preventing intermating of power cables. The IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60320-1 certified powerCON True1-TOP connectors are specified and engineered for outdoor application environments. These will also be available in Q4/2023 in cable assemblies and  over moulded powerCON True1 cable assemblies will be displayed for the first time.

Neutrik claims to be the only brand with EN 60320-1 certified connectors for indoor and outdoor use that can be used for outer cable diameters from 6.0 to 16mm and conductor cross-sections from 1.5 to 2.5mm². Rean’s X series lockable cable connectors and chassis connectors are also EN/UL 60320-1 certified.

These cable connectors complement power distribution and earthing systems from Contrik, designed and manufactured within the EU to meet robust requirements of mobile event applications. The latest Xtreme outdoor (XO) application environment Power Turtle and Power Strip distribution systems feature extraordinary levels of environmental immunity while Xtreme indoor (X) series systems provide high impact resistant compact designs. IK10+, IP65 and UL94 V2 protection is standard to both product types, as is I/O connectivity via True1 TOP with self-closing protective caps, and optional CEE connection. Power measurement via power meter with display is integrated in both a new Power Turtle XO and a Power Strip XO. ‘Active’ versions of Power Contrik power distribution products prevent over-current with integrated circuit breakers.

The Dante interface series is also being shown for the first time. It has a comprehensive range of robust devices for interfacing line and AES I/O within Dante digital audio networks. These devices will offer enhanced signal performance and networking versatility in demanding production environments.

Neutrik Group is exhibiting at booth #B89 in Hall 8 at IBC2023IBC2023 (12 to 15 September) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
