NXP’s 5G mMIMO RF Pas are available from Richardson RFPD

To accelerate the prototyping of MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) systems, NXP Semiconductors has developed RF power multi-chip modules and RapidRF front-end designs which are now available from Richardson RFPD.

The distributor, an Arrow Electronics company, offers full design support capabilities for new RF power multi-chip modules (MCMs) and the RapidRF demonstration platform from NXP. The new MCMs are part of NXP’s 5G Airfast family which includes LDMOS power amplifier (PA) modules, GaAs pre-driver modules and receiver modules for cellular frequency bands from 2.3 to 3.8GHz and with output power from 3.0 to 5.0W.

The integrated power amplifier modules feature advanced high-performance in-package Doherty, fully matched 50 Ohm input/output, multiple gain stages and a small footprint. According to Richardson RFPD, this combination of features is suitable for scaling mMIMO 5G configurations up to 64T64R.

The new power amplifier modules available from Richardson include the AFSC5G26E38 (2.6GHz band, +38 dBm avgerage), the AFSC5G26E39 (2.6GHz band, +39 dBm average and included in a featured RapidRF front end design), the AFSC5G26F38 (2.6GHz band, +38 dBm average), the A3M35TL039 (3.5GHz band, +39 dBm average and also included in a RapidRF front end design), the AFSC5G35E38 (3.5GHz band, +38 dBm average), AFSC5G37E38 (3.7GHz band, +38 dBm average), the A3M37TL039 (3.7GHz band, +39 dBm average) and AFSC5G40E38 (4.0GHz band, +38 dBm average) models.

NXP’s RapidRF front-end designs integrate an RF power amplifier module, receiver LNAs, a transmit/receive switch, a circulator and a bias controller in a compact footprint. They help accelerate prototyping for massive MIMO systems, Open RAN, outdoor small cells, and low-power remote radio heads, advised Richardson. The RapidRF platform includes design files.

Featured 28V LDMOS RapidRF front-end designs include the RapidRF-35TL039, the RapidRF-26E39 and RapidRF-35D35.

The MCMs and RapidRF designs are available for purchase online direct from Richardson RFPD or via local sales engineers.
