Omnetics highlights micro and macro connectors at electronica 2018

At next month’s electronica, Omnetics will exhibit a selection of micro and macro connectors, including the Cobra connector for military and civil law enforcement clothing.

The Cobra connector is a body-worn connector for dismounted soldiers and civil law enforcement. It is used for power and signal routing of electronics integrated into clothing. According to Omnetics, a key attribute of the design is the connector’s ability to slide through standard Molle straps on a vest. The Cobra interconnect system can be attached to standard Molle straps or integrated directly to the fabric. Various pin counts can be realised, handling up to 5.0A. Standard protocols can be supported from Ethernet, USB and HDMI.

Also on the Omnetic stand, will be the new Micro 360 Cat6a connectors. These rugged connectors meet the signal requirements of Cat 6a. Using both simulation and measurement, Omnetics explains that it has optimised the performance for Cat6a by implementing a five-pin grounding strategy to these Micro 360 Cat6a connectors for what it describes as ‘excellent crosstalk performance’ and maximum data transmission, meeting the requirements of Cat6a per TIA-568-C.2.

Another draw for visitors, will be the latching connectors. The easy-to-use latch system in the Micro-D, Nano-D and Micro Strips latching connectors allows for easy mating and de-mating without tools, providing a secure and reliable connection at all times, says Omnetics.

Omnetics will be at electronica (13 to 16 November) in Munich, Germany. Visit Omnetics stand in hall B3, stand 110.

Omnetics designs and manufactures miniature connectors. It has over 30 years’ of experience, focused on micro-miniature and nano-miniature, reliable electronic connectors and interconnection systems. Connectors from Omnetics can be found in a range of sectors including industrial, medical, oil and gas, space and defence.

Omnetics can make modified standard and even full custom connectors rapidly.

Visitors to electronica are invited to discuss design requirements with representatives on the stand.
