Over-voltage protector has an enhanced surge rate, despite 8mm form factor
The Bourns GDT28H series features of GDT (gas discharge tube) devices is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio. The high voltage, two-electrode, over-voltage protector family is suitable for AC line applications, said Bourns.
The GDT28H series is designed to meet the protection requirements of today’s powerline equipment for general industrial use as well as the need for the electrification of energy demand in both consumer and commercial use.
It is suitable for AC isolation which makes it a practical device for electrical and electronic equipment required to meet electrical safety standards such as the IEC 62368-1, said Bourns. It combines an extended operating voltage range, high insulation resistance and heightened surge rate for a space-saving device that offers the same level of protection as a larger component, said the company. Its wide operating temperature range of -40 to + 125 degrees C enables it to be used in harsh environments.
The GDT28H series is available now. They comply to RoHS and are UL-recognised.
Bourns manufactures and supplies position and speed sensors, circuit protection solutions, magnetic components, microelectronic modules, panel controls and resistive products. Headquartered in Riverside, California, USA, the company serves a broad range of markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, medical (low/medium risk) and audio segments.
