Photorelay has turn on time of 0.25ms (max)
A photorelay announced by Toshiba Electronics Europe is intended for applications in testing. Its small form factor means it can save space compared with the company’s previous generation of photorelay.
The TLP3476S has a maximum turn on time of 0.25ms, which is a 50 per cent reduction over the company’s existing TLP3475S photorelay to improve switching capabilities. It is available in an S-VSON4T package, and comprises a photo-MOSFET which is optically coupled with an infrared (IR) LED. On-state resistance is just 1.5 Ohm (maximum) and the photorelay delivers an on-state current of 0.4A. It supports a 500Vrms isolation voltage.
The TLP3476S occupies 1.45 x 2.0mm of board space. A mechanical relay typically requires 60mm2 observed Toshiba. Switching power is in the order of 0.1mW, as opposed to the 100mW required to switch mechanical devices. Operating temperature range is -40 to +110 degrees C.
The TLP3476S can be used in semiconductor tester equipment, for example high -speed memory testers, high speed logic testers, as well as probe cards and other measurement instrumentation.
