Portable network tester supports 400G Ethernet
In addition to support for 400G Ethernet, the Network Master Pro can also be used for access, metro, mobile front haul/back haul, and data centre transmission quality tests, bit error rate (BER), throughput, frame loss and latency measurements.
The battery-powered tester from Anritsu has directly mounted QFSP-DD optical modules and simultaneously installable 10M-to-100G interface for the quality tests and measurements. It also has a graphical user intereface, remote control over network option and auto-test functions.
Commercial 5G services and the spread of cloud computing is leading to large, continuous increases in communications traffic, says Anritsu. At the same time, rapid spread of teleworking and online work is causing challenges for communications operators, who are faced with reinforcing their bandwidth. 400G Ethernet strengthens support for this rising traffic. There is an urgent need for a portable 400G tester to help in commissioning and maintenance of 400G Ethernet networks. The MT1040A is claimed to be the world’s smallest B5-size 400G Ethernet tester. Its role is to evaluate the communications quality of networks operating at speeds from 10Mbits per second to 400Gbits per second. Always-on forward error correction (FEC) is a key technology for achieving 400G Ethernet speeds. With built-in FEC analysis functions, the MT1040A evaluates the communications quality of optical modules, such as QSFP-DD, and the performance of 400G devices. Moreover, simultaneous installation of any of the optional OTDR modules (MU100020A/MU100021A/MU100022A/MU100023A) measures optical fibre lines for fault finding.
Users can also improve the efficiency of on-site testing work through remote operation using Anritsu’s SORA internet subscription service, as well as through the one-button automatic testing function for pass/fail evaluations at multiple tests.
