Recom offers switching regulator in latest standard size with 16 th brick pinout
Two ranges of cost-effective switching regulators from Recom, the RPMGQ-20 and RPMGS-20, are open frame, through hole, non-isolated DC/DC buck converters with an 18 to 75V input. The RPMGQ-20 is in an industry-standard quarter-brick format while the RPMGS-20 is in the emerging standard package size of 36.83 x 34.04mm with a standard sixteenth brick pin-out. Both products have a maximum height of 15mm from the mounting surface.
Optional nominal outputs are 5.0 or 12V trimmable over a wide range, 3.3 to 8.0V and 8.0 to 24V respectively. Output current for all variants is 20A.
The efficiency of both variants is up to 98 per cent for the 12V output versions and 94 per cent for 5.0V output, with a nearly-flat efficiency curve down to around 10 per cent load, reported Recom.
Remote sense and control input is provided and both the RPMGQ-20 and RPMGS-20 feature protection against input under-voltage, output over-current, short circuits, and over-temperature.
With air-flow, full load is available to an ambient temperature of more than 90 degrees C for all variants with derating to 120 degrees C.
The efficient DC/DCs are suitable as point of load (PoL) converters in demanding distributed power architectures, recommended Recom.
Samples of the RPMGQ-20 and RPMGS-20 ranges are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.
Recom manufactures a full range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats.
The company’s headquarters is in Gmunden, Austria include a research and development centre and laboratory wing and is supported by a worldwide distribution network.
