Recom releases K series DC/DC converters in miniature package
Power dense DC/DC converters, offering 5W in a 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 inch (25.4 x 25.4 x 10mm) package have been added to the cost-effective K series by Recom.
The REC5K-AW has a wide 4:1 input range (9.0 to 36V DC) and a single regulated 5V DC output. Up to 5W/1A is available between 18 to 36V DC input and the DC/DC converter operates from -40 to 110 degrees C ambient temperature with derating. The DC/DC is certified to UL / EN / IEC 62368-1 for 4kV DC per second ‘basic’ grade isolation. It also meets EMC standard EN 55032 Class B for input conducted noise with a simple input filter. The parts are characterised for operation to 5000m altitude in a pollution degree 2 (PD2) environment. Mean time between failure is over 1.4Mhrs at 25 degrees C according to MIL-HDBK-217F (GB).
The REC5K-AW is short-circuit protected and features an input under-voltage lockout. On/off control is also provided with a typical standby current of just 3mA.
“The wide input, high power density, and isolation rating of these parts make them ideal for high-end applications such as medical and industrial, where cost is also a factor,” said Matthew Dauterive, Recom’s DC/DC product manager.
The devices are covered by a three year warranty. Samples, and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors, or directly from Recom.
Recom manufactures a range of standard and customised DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class from sub-1W to tens of kW, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of formats. The company’s headquarters are located in Gmunden, Austria, and include a logistics research and development centre and laboratory wing.
