Relays are sized to meet next-gen automotive technology

Demand for PCB-based miniaturised relays in automotive applications is met, says Panasonic Industry, with the 60A-rated TT series. The PCB-based miniaturised relays are designed for switching in contemporary automotive application design. According to Panasonic Industry, the industry demands miniaturisation and efficiency without compromising reliability and performance render through hole technology (THT) or pin in paste (PiP) -mounted relays are optimal choices for multiple high current loads.

The high capacity TT series supports 60A at 14V DC with a double make 2 Form A (1 Form U) contact configuration. It is tailored to smart junction boxes used throughout a vehicle.

Michael Immle from Panasonic Industry Europe explains that smart junction boxes are “a downright leap in terms of switching structure: The overall ratio of relays employed is currently increasing significantly – as well as the overall share of PCB-mounted relays,” he said.

The TT relays are supplied in miniaturised housings measuring 17.8 x 13 x 16mm. Panasonic Industry says the TT relay series is expected to save between 15 to 29 per cent board space when compared to similar products.

With available heat-resistant (110 degrees C) or PiP soldering-compatible types, the TT series of Panasonic Industry is suitable for high capacity switching in many car applications – such as defoggers, head lamps, seat heaters, fog lamps and fan motors.
