Rutronik UK introduces Recom switching regulators with thermal management
A compact, 1.5A non-isolated switching regulator power module from Recom, the RPMH-1.5 series is now available from Rutronik UK. The non-isolated switching regulator power module has a low profile of just 3.75mm. It operates across a wide temperature range of -40 to +100 degrees C without derating.
Switching regulators are particularly suitable for applications where the efficient handling of high ambient temperatures plays a role in safe functionality, Examples of these are e-mobility, industrial transport and solar panels. The regulators can also be used for 48V bus applications, for example in the automotive, cloud computing and robotics sectors.
The modules have up to 97 per cent efficiency under full load at ambient temperatures of up to +100 degrees C and manage derating at temperatures of up to 105 degrees C without a heat sink. Only one external capacitor is needed to operate the controllers, adds Rutronik. The non-insulated modules offer optimum electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) thanks to the design’s six-sided shielding. The RPMH-1.5 also has integrated under voltage lockout (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OCP), short circuit protection (SCP) and over temperature protection (OTP).
The module has a wide input voltage range of 4.3 to 60V DC, and offers a customisable output voltage range of 2.64 to 28Vout.
The series is also available as a low profile surface mount device. It has an on/off function and a power good signal that indicates whether all voltages are within specification.
