Sensirion extends temperature range for humidity sensing
With an extended supply voltage range from 1.08 to 3.6V and 400nA average current, the SHT40 is suited to mobile, battery-driven and high volume consumer electronics applications, says Sensirion.
The SHT40 is available in tape and reel packaging and is suitable for surface mount assembly processes.
It is based on Sensirion’s CMOSens chip which offers low power consumption and what are claimed to be industry-leading accuracy specifications. The sensor covers operating ranges from 0 to 100 per cent RH and from -40 to +125 degrees C with accuracies of ±1.8 per cent RH and ±0.2 degrees C. The extended supply voltage range (1.08 to 3.6V and 400nA average current), coupled with a small form factor in a robust DFN housing, allows the SHT40 to be integrated into challenging designs. It is qualified to JEDEC JESD47.
The SHT41 and SHT45 will be available in 2021. They feature typical and maximal accuracies that have been honed down to delta RH = ± 1.5 per cent RH and delta T = ± 0.1 degrees C; suitable for the most demanding applications in all industries, says Sensirion.
The company will also add an on-package filter membrane to ensure IP67 compliance for exposed designs next year.
Sensirion is headquartered in Stäfa, Switzerland. The company manufactures digital micro sensors and systems. Its product range includes gas and liquid flow sensors, differential pressure sensors and environmental sensors to measure humidity and temperature, volatile organic compounds (VOC), carbon dioxide (CO2) and particulate matter (PM2.5).
Sensirion has an international network with sales offices in the USA, Europe, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea to supply international customers with standard and custom sensor systems for a wide range of applications. Sensirion sensors are commonly used in the medical, industrial and automotive sectors, and in analytical instruments, consumer goods and HVAC products.
