Side-wettable terminals save space for bi-directional ESD diode
Housed in a space-saving DFN1006-2A package with side-wettable terminals, the VCUT0714BHD1 bidirectional asymmetrical (BiAs) single line ESD protection diode is intended for interface protection in commercial and automotive applications.
The BiAs single line ESD protection diode saves space compared with SOT packages and offers low capacitance and leakage current to protect high speed data lines against transient voltage signals.
The VCUT0714BHD1 diode has a voltage range of -7.0 to +14V or -14 to +7.0V, and low load capacitance down to 8pF (typical). The standard ESD diode is suitable for commercial applications and is available in an AEC-Q101 qualified version for automotive use.
The short leads and small size of the DFN1006-2A package, combined with the device’s low line inductance, allows fast transients such as an ESD strike to be clamped with minimal over- or under-shoots.
The protection diode features a low maximum leakage current of less than 0.1 microA at the working voltage of 7.0 or 14V. It has a breakdown voltage of 7.3 or 14.5V typical at 1.0mA. It has a maximum clamping voltage of 15V at 3.6A or 30V at 2.0A. The VCUT0714BHD1 provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 at ±25kV (contact) and ±30kV (air) discharge. The diode offers a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 in accordance with J-STD-020 and a
UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.
The protection diode is RoHS-compliant and halogen-free and supports automated optical inspection (AOI) for automotive systems. Soldering can be checked by standard vision inspection; no X-ray is required, added Vishay.
Samples and production quantities of the VCUT0714BHD1 are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks for large orders.
Vishay claims to manufacture one of the world’s largest portfolios of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components for automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace and medical markets.
