Skyworks’ front-end module powers Wi-Fi 6 applications
The latest front-end module from Skyworks is the SKY85772-11, designed for growing retail, carrier and enterprise Wi-Fi 6 applications. The 5GHz front-end module offers best-in-class power and linearity for devices such as access points, routers and gateways, says the company. The logarithmic power detector allows for wide dynamic power range and its harmonics are FCC-compliant, reducing filtering requirements.
The SKY85772-11 also delivers 2dB higher gain, improving linearity when compared to system on chip (SoC) architectures, confirmed Skyworks. The SKY85772-11 is also part of major transceiver reference designs.
The integrated, 5GHz front-end module incorporates a 5GHz transmit/receive (T/R) switch, a 5GHz low-noise amplifier (LNA) with bypass, and a 5GHz power amplifier (PA) intended for mobile/portable 802.11ax applications and systems.
There is also an integrated power detector to provide closed-loop power control within the system.
The device is provided in a compact, 16-pin 3.0 x 3.0mm quad flat no-lead (QFN) package.
It has fully matched input and output, integrated logarithmic power detector and directional coupler and transmit gain of 32dB and receive gain of 15dB. Frequency gain is 5.15GHz (minimum) with 5.85GHz frequency maximum.
Skyworks Solutions describes its analogue semiconductors as innovative and empowering the wireless networking revolution. Its devices connect people, places and things spanning a number of new and previously unimagined applications within the aerospace, automotive, broadband, cellular infrastructure, connected home, industrial, medical, military, smartphone, tablet and wearable markets.
Skyworks is a global company with engineering, marketing, operations, sales and support facilities located throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
