TTI Europe offers TE Connectivity’s PowerTube HV connectors for e-mobility
The PowerTube series of high voltage (HV) connectors by TE Connectivity are modular, scalable and robust in order to handle large electrical loads in electric vehicle (EV) designs. They are now stocked by electronic component distributor, TTI.
Targeting e-mobility applications in industrial and commercial vehicles, the connector series is designed to handle the large electrical loads found in e-motor, inverter and battery pack subsystems.
Multiple wire size options are available, ranging from 35mm² and 150mm², and the connectors can withstand up to 580A and, depending on wire size and temperature, up to 1000V. The robust design withstands engine-level vibration and circular 360 degree shielding (with a shield current up to 30 per cent of the main current) to optimise EMC performance.
The PowerTube header is available in either 180 or 90 degree orientations, as well as up to three positions per connector. This is complemented by a cube-shaped busbar interface that allows connectivity independent of busbar orientation, explained TTI.
The modular, circular design is claimed to simplify cable routing and connector assembly, helping vehicle manufacturers to lower the total applied system cost. The connector provides IP6K9K dust and water ingress protection, Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and a high voltage interlock loop (HVIL) safety feature in each pin, for reliable, safe connectivity, TTI added.
TTI is a Berkshire Hathaway company. It is an authorised, specialty distributor of electronic components. Founded in 1971, the emphasis on a broad and deep product portfolio, available-to-sell inventory and sophisticated supply chain programmes have established TTI as a distributor of choice to manufacturers in the industrial, defence, aerospace, transportation, medical, and communications sectors worldwide.
TTI and its wholly owned subsidiaries, the TTI Family of Companies, Mouser Electronics, Sager Electronics and Exponential Technology Group have more than 132 locations throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
