Tunable bandpass filter extends UHF band in tactical comms

Designed for extended UHF band in tactical communications applications, the SAX270 bandpass filter from NewEdge Signal Solutions is now available from Richardson RFPD.

The distributor has announced design support capabilities as well as availability of the tunable bandpass filter.

The SAX270 electronically-tunable bandpass filter has been designed by NewEdge to achieve the filter’s extremely small size and over-moulded plastic packaging.

The 174 to 512MHz bandpass filter is supplied in a package size measuring 0.5 x 0.45 x 0.175-inches (12.7 x 11.43 x 4.445mm).

Typical insertion loss is 4.3dB and the noise figure is less than 0.5dB above insertion loss.

The DC power consumption is less than 100mW (typical)

An evaluation board, the SAX270_EVB is also available.

The combination of size and RF performance with low DC power consumption makes the SAX270 well-suited to high performance embedded applications where board size is constrained, for example handheld and manpack radios, as well as radios included in drones and other airborne platforms.
