Two 8K HDMI models extend FeedThrough connector range
Two connectors with 8K HDMI connectivity have been added by Cliff Electronics to its FeedThrough range. The female to female FeedThrough HDMI connectors are designed and manufactured in the UK. Both support the HDMI 2.1 format with a resolution of 7680 x 4320 and support HDR (High Dynamic Range) signals.
8K HDMI cables are widely used for transmitting video and audio signals from source to display for commercial AV, industrial and specialty uses – for example projectors, video conference systems, HDTV and monitors.
The 8K HDMI FeedThrough connectors are available in two formats. The first is an industry standard XLR form factor. It has a 24mm mounting hole, black plastic frame with 2.5mm countersunk or plain hole for front or rear mounting.
Cliff Electronics also offers a Compact Slims version for high density connector panels, with a 9.0 x 35.5mm frame and with a 17.15 x 22.86mm panel cut out. Customers can specify rugged front and rear (Dual Slims) mounting metal frames finished in natural nickel metal or black, or a front or rear mounting black plastic framed version. Both types are available with plain or countersunk fixing holes.
Cliff’s DualSlims FeedThrough connector range offers a compact alternative to the 26mm wide XLR form factor version. At just 19mm wide, up to 20 connectors can be mounted in a 1U, 19 inch rack panel; the XLR design allows 16 connectors in the same space. All FeedThrough connectors from Cliff can be ordered pre-assembled on rack panels to simplify and speed up system assembly. Other DualSlims FeedThrough versions available include widely used data connector types such as RJ45 and USB 2 and USB 3.
Nick Leppard, technical sales at Cliff Electronics, said: ” 8K HDMI cables are bringing to be specified in infrastructure applications for broadcast and video transmission. The narrow form factor of Cliff’s DualSlims range is widely used by audio, broadcast, data and communications systems manufacturers in the USA and becoming more popular in the UK and rest of Europe for both increasing panel density and for products being exported to North America.”
Cliff’s FeedThrough connectors allow standard, off the shelf, connecting cables to be used for internal connectivity, simplifying and speeding up system assembly and facilitating easy repurposing of equipment. The design requires no soldering or punch termination. Both models have a low rear profile and both the shell and contacts are gold-plated.
The design delivers 10mOhm (maximum) contact resistance and 100MOhm insulation resistance. Rated at 40V AC / 0.5A (maximum), the connectors withstand a dielectric voltage of 500V AC.
