VersaLogic releases dual 10GbE expansion module for PC/104 systems
Industrial temperature, rugged Ethernet expansion boards from VersaLogic now include the E9 module, a dual 10GbE expansion board. It provides an effective and reliable way to add high speed 10Gbit Ethernet to an embedded computer system, said VersaLogic.
“Customers can now easily add two 10Gb Ethernet ports to embedded systems with reliable, full performance operation even in industrial temperature applications (-40° to +85°C)” said Len Crane, VersaLogic president. The PCIe expansion board takes thermal management seriously and works flawlessly across the full industrial temperature range,” continued Crane.
The E9 provides two independent IEEE 10Gb Ethernet RJ-45 ports which are backwards-compatible with slower ports (5GbE, 2.5GbE, and 1GbE).
The E9 is designed for PCIe/104 three-bank stack-down platforms as a plug-in expansion board.
It includes IEEE 1588/802.1AS Precision Time Protocol support. This enables precise time-synchronisation between network nodes in applications such as smart factory and smart security.
According to VersaLogic, the E9, is differentiated from other 10 GbE offerings because it is completely self-contained with on-board magnetic isolation and RJ-45 jacks for ease of integration. There is no need for off-board magnetics, special cabling, or SFP modules, added the company.
The module is built for any application required to function in extreme environments. Fully tested thermal management assures reliable operation over the full industrial temperature range (-40 to +85 degrees C). Latching connectors, soldered-down transceivers, and MIL-STD-202H shock and vibration testing are incorporated to meet the most demanding conditions. The EPM-E9E was engineered and validated to perform in real-world applications.
It is also customisable, even in low OEM quantities, said the company. Customisation options include conformal coating, revision locks, custom labelling, customised testing, customised screening, and pre-assembly with VersaLogic’s Sabertooth (EPMe-51) system.
The E9 is compatible with popular operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
The E9 dual 10Gb Ethernet expansion board is designed for high reliability and long-term availability (10+ year typical production lifecycle).
